Bihar
Entertainment Tax in Bihar State is 110% at present on admission on Rate whereas the Government has power by legislation upto 150% in the year 1985. Government of Bihar introduced the compounding of Entertainment applicable in whole of Bihar from 14 th August 1985. Whole of Bihar have been divided into Eleven category according to the population of that place.

4. 100001 to 300000 35% of Entertainment Duty of calculation on full capacity
5. 300001 to 500000 40% of Entertainment Duty of calculation on full capacity
6. 500001 to 1000000 45% of Entertainment Duty of calculation on full capacity
7. above 1000000 20% of Entertainment Duty of calculation on full capacity

Maharashtra 45%

No tax for Marathi Films. Besides tax exemption subsidy of Rs.15 lakhs is given to Marathi Films.

In Maharashtra the subsidy given to the producers are as under:

  1. Rs.15 lakhs at the time of starting the next production.
  2. Rs.20 lakhs if the film is being produced in 35 mm Dolby/Digital. This subsidy is given to 5 producers in a year on the basis of the script selected by the government.
  3. Additional Rs.15 lakhs if the film gets a National Award.
Orissa
Admission rate upto Rs.2/- 60%
Admission rate above Rs.2/- 70%

Punjab
Calculated on the baisis tax paid by the cinemas during last 10 years.
Besides tax exemption subsidy upto Rs.12 lakhs is given to Punjabi Films.

Rajasthan 50%
Compounding of Entertainment Tax:
A) Category “A” Jaipur

35% of total seating capacity for a year

B) Category “B” Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer &
     Bikaner Cities

25% of full seating capacity

C) Category “C” Cinemas at District Head Quarters

15% of full seating capacity

D) Category “D” Cinemas other than in 3 categories

10% of full seating capacity

Provision by 5% increase in compounding Rates. The Exhibitor to pay the amount whichever is more.

The compounding scheme of Rajasthan Govt. is reported in the Annual Report 1999-2000
